KIDS' BIKE TRADE-IN PROGRAM
We want happy kids on bikes - riding the right size and style of bike builds confidence and a lifelong love of riding! Our trade-in program helps keep growing kids on a bike that's always right for them.
Trade-in any kids bike originally purchased at Oak Bay Bikes and receive up to 50% of the original purchase price toward a new bike, depending on condition.
1.5-3 yr. old: Balance Bikes
A great introduction to two-wheeled fun, run bikes are the perfect alternative to training wheels and the best way for little ones to learn the basics of balance, turning and stopping. Available with 10" and 12" tires.
2-4 yr. old: 12 inch
A 12" bike is the perfect first bike or progression from a run bike for kids age 3 to 4 years old.
3-5 yr. old: 14 Inch
Equipped with a familiar coaster brake and rear hand brake, or front and rear hand brakes, young riders can confidently get rolling and reliably stop. 14" bikes are perfect for getting your 3 to 4-year-old youngster out riding and having fun!
3-6 yr. old: 16 Inch
Similar to the 14", the 16" wheel bike is equipped with a familiar coaster brake and rear hand brake, or front and rear hand brakes.
5-8 yr. old: 20 Inch
20" all-purpose or mountain bikes are perfect for getting your 5 to 8-year-old youngster out riding trails and having fun. With front and rear hand brakes, and geared or singlespeed options, young riders can get rolling on the perfect bike.
7+ yr. old: 24 Inch
24" wheel size bikes come in almost the same shapes as adult bikes: rigid, hardtail or full suspension, rim or disc brakes. All of them are built to outlast multiple children and spend more time on the trail and less in the shop.

Not only are measurements like your child's inseam and the bike's standover height important factors, the rider's skills and confidence should also be taken into consideration when figuring out the right size.
