If that long and winding road is
beckoning to you consider our adventure touring 29'er
mountain bike, the Fargo. Crafted of Salsa Classico
CroMoly, the Fargo is a bit of a bicycling anomaly: a
disc brake only, drop bar mountain bike designed for
fully-loaded touring.
Drop bars provide multiple hand
positions for long days on the road or trail. A full
compliment of braze-on's on the frame and fork allow for
both front and rear racks and fenders. The investment
cast chainstay-mounted disc brake mount is conveniently
tucked out of the way, eliminating accessory mounting
interference. Load as much or as little gear as you
choose for your next adventure. Six (count 'em, six)
water bottle cage mounts (on sizes 18 - 24") help keep
you hydrated on a long journey. The sloped toptube
allows plenty of standover clearance for those
fully-loaded starts and stops. Both frame and fork
offers gobs of tire clearance. Run pavement friendly
700c x 35mm rubber, or throw on some big 29 x 2.4" meat
(29 x 2.3" with Planet Bike Cascadia fenders). The Fargo
is designed to take you wherever it is you wish to go.
Throw a dart at a map, make some plans, load up your
gear, and hit the two-wheel highway.
Fargo. Go far.
JET 9 LINKAGE UPDATE
JET 9 linkage will be
done and ready to ship to customers next week. The
pieces have all been forged and we are just waiting for
anodizing and shipping. Replacement linkages will
be shipping to customers and shops soon, so get ready to
ride your Jet 9 again. In most cases, taking the
frame back to your authorized Niner dealer will be the
best, fastest way to receive the replacements.
Detailed instructions on how to get your replacement
linkages can be found at the link below if you are not
near a dealer. Follow the instructions and we will
be happy to exchange the linkages directly with you.
In order to keep track of frames that have been fixed
and replaced, we will be exchanging the linkages for the
old ones and taking note of the serial number of the
frame you own. (Your local Niner Dealer again will
handle this for you) We would like to thank each
and every one of you for your patience on this subject.
We are truly thankful that you guys have been
understanding, and we can't wait to get you back on your
bikes.
After a full year of design work, British
Columbia titanium specialist Everti has added its first
29"-wheeled mountain bike to its stable. The aptly named
'29R' features a double butted top tube and seat tube for
reduced weight and a livelier ride while the rest of the
frame utilizes straight-gauge stock. The down tube is bi-ovalized
for strength and rigidity.
In contrast to what many 29er builders are
doing these days,
Everti actually chooses
to go with a slightly longer head tube to better
distribute the stress of the longer fork. A small gusset
adds further reinforcement. A decision to use
full-length housing shields the derailleur cables from
contaminants common to
Everti's locale. Claimed
frame weight is 1500g and Everti will offer its new 29R
in medium, large and extra-large sizes to suit riders
from approximately 1.7m (5' 8") to 1.9m (6' 4") tall.
Other sizes will carry an additional US$200 custom
fitting fee. Suggested retail price for the frame only
is US$1595 and Everti will also offer complete builds.
New to Oak
Bay Bikes:
Soma Bikes
Practical, durable, comfortable, affordable... these are the primary
forces shaping Soma's ideology. Sounds reasonable right? But why do
so many other companies try to emulate the racing world when it's
the smallest segment of the market? Our local bike shops have felt a
lack of 'real' products aimed at the everyday cyclist and have
pitched their ideas at us. Results: A better tire lever, water
bottles that don't taste like plastic and steel frames that's got
people smiling from the commute to the singletrack.
Strollers and Trailers
Whether it is a trip to the park or a trek across country, Burley or
BOB will get your family going with products made to withstand miles
of roads and trails. Their products will give you and your loved
ones the tools to get outside, get fit, hit the back trails, and
spend more quality time with the people you love.
Oak Bay Bikes carries the full line of products from both
Burley or BOB.
